All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta State governorship candidate in the April 11 election, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has dragged the state governor-elect, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, before the tribunal challenging the outcome of the election.
Emerhor, in the petition by his counsel, Chief T. J. Okpoko, SAN, is praying the tribunal to cancel the governorship poll and order a re-run, alleging that the poll was characterised by electoral malpractices.
He alleged that card readers were not used in many areas during the election, adding that results were fabricated and allocated, in violation of the electoral laws and INEC guidelines. He is further contending that “The number of accredited voters for results announced was more than actual card reader records while violence and ballot box snatching marred the election.”
Urging the tribunal to declare the elections null and void, Emerhor is also seeking an order for the conduct of rerun governorship election in the state.
