The Police Command in Kaduna State on Thursday announced the arrest of 16 suspected members of `Sara-Suka’ who attacked Rigasa Community in Kaduna and killed one person. Sara-Suka is a notorious street gangsters that terrorise communities in broad daylight usually without provocation. The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu, said at a news briefing in Kaduna that the suspects had attacked the community on May 5, killed one person and injured three others.
He said the suspects, whose ages ranged between 18 and 30, had in their possession 19 cutlasses, four swords and two long sticks. The commissioner said the suspects would be charged to court for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and terrorism as soon as investigations were concluded. Shehu also said that 15 armed robbery suspects had been arrested in various locations in the state, adding that arms, ammunition and vehicles were recovered from them.
He said four of the suspected robbers were arrested in Zaria, two in Kaduna, one each in Kafanchan and Soba. The commissioner disclosed that seven others that specialised in snatching motorcycles were also arrested. He said that 15 guns, 85 live ammunition, two military camouflage uniforms, seven cars, 14 motorcycles, among others were recovered from the suspects. Shehu solicited for more support from the general public to enable the police rid the state of criminals.
