Man Stabbed His Brother To Death in Imo State

Ehume autonomous community in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State has been thrown into grief, due to the alleged murder of Mr. Evaristus Chukwudi Ukeh by his half brother (names withheld).

A villager, who pleaded anonymity, told Vanguard that Evaristus, who was fondly called “the Cross”, by his friends and associates, had a misunderstanding with his alleged assailant earlier in the day.

It was also gathered that the alleged misunderstanding between the deceased and his older half brother initially ended without any serious incident.

“We were all surprised when somebody close to the assailant later worked successfully on his sensibilities and he again went to war,” an eyewitness recounted.

The witness said the assailant traced the deceased to his house and starting stabbing him with a broken bottle as soon as he (deceased) openned the door.

“Information we received showed that there was nobody in the house when the assailant stormed the home of Evaristus.

‘’So, he was just at the mercy of the attacker who stabbed him to death,” said the witness.

Another witness recalled that as soon as the assailant noticed that the deceased was dead, he fled to Enugu where he thought the long arms of the law would not catch up with him.

“An indigene of the community residing in Enugu, however, saw the fleeing assailant and promptly contacted those at home.

‘’The police was called in and he was nabbed before he changed location,” she told Vanguard.

Although the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, could not be reached on his mobile phone at press time, an officer at Obowo Police Division confirmed the incident but refused to give details.
