Gunmen on Sunday shot and killed Geoffrey Nemine, deputy clerk, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, along Human Rights Road, Agudama-Epie within Yenagoa, the state capital.
Eyewitnesses told BusinessDay that Nemine was eating at the wife’s shop directly in front of his residence Sunday evening when he was shot on the forehead by suspected armed robbers.
Asinim Butswat, police public relations officer (PPRO), told BusinessDay that one of the ring leaders has been arrested in connection with the killing but declined giving his name or the cult group he belongs to. The eyewitness further disclosed that the assailants had earlier demanded for money from the couple which they gladly gave them and they left, only to return and shoot the
deceased at close range.
According to the eyewitness, Nemine who hails from Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state died before he could be rushed to the hospital. “He and his wife were in the wife’s shop around 8.00p.m when armed robbers came and demanded money from them which they gave to the robbers.
The robbers later came back and shot him on the forehead, before he could be rushed to the hospital, he gave up the ghost,” the eyewitness stated.
