Job Title: Safety & Environmental Manager
Location: Lagos
Position Overview
- The primary function of the Safety and Environmental Manager is to champion and promote occupational safety campaigns and investigation of unsafe acts; and monitor all safety related issues; such as safety audit recommendations as well as provision of PPE for employees.
- The role of the Safety and environmental Manager is strategic and advisory to all job holders within the business.
Duties and Responsibilities
- He/ She will be responsible for coordinating of risk assessment, identification of department hazards.
- He/ She will also be responsible for coordinating audits and ensure the identified gaps are corrected by the departmental managers.
- As the Safety & Environmental manager (SE MGR), you will identify, purchase, issue appropriate PPW to concerned staff/ visitors as well as supervise activities relating to liquid and solid waste disposal and ETP management.
- He/ She will be responsible for initiating ideas/ campaigns to encourage permanent change in habits to a team based approach to safety and environmental management and make safety everybody's responsibility.
- The SE MGR will coordinate hazardous tasks trainings for employees and contractors as well as fire and emergency response drill and issues a report of findings to management.
Qualification
- A good first degree in Engineering, occupational health or any related course from a reputable institution
- 5-8years years work experience
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Person Specification:
- Must have a sound knowledge of engineering environment and biological sciences.
- Must be conversant with statutory requirements and the industry best practice as it applies to safe working conditions and the environment care.
